President: 100-bed tertiary hospital in Vilimale’ to be developed with grant from China

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Friday, revealed grant assistance from China has been arranged for the current administration’s project to develop a 100-bed tertiary hospital in Vilimale’.

He made announcement via a video message on Friday while based in China as he undertakes a state visit to the nation, adding that an agreement regarding the project has already been executed during the visit.

Therewith, he said no expenses will be incurred by the government for this project.

“The road has been paved for the work on the hospital through this agreement we executed with China. By the will of God, a 100-bed tertiary hospital will be developed, free of any expense,” he said.

Speaking further, he said the development of Vilimale’ roads will commence soon, without any further delays. In addition to this,  he said the fiber works in Vilimale’ will be shifted to a different location within the next six months.

The current administration announced its decision to develop a 100-bed tertiary hospital in Vilimale’ on December 27^th. The project was announced by Health Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, without disclosing any further details.

Prior to this, President Muizzu has pledged to allocate special priority for the development of Vilimale’ despite negligence in this trajectory by former administrations.

President Muizzu, in his ongoing visit to China, has secured aid for many of the development projects planned by his administration.
