Maldives Immigration states they have issued 2,623 passports in the past two weeks as demand for passport service soars in conjunction with the December school holidays.

Immigration, in a post on X on Monday, said they were maximizing their resources to provide service to the public in light of the increased demand for passport service.

Such a large number of passports have been issued after Immigration provided major easements to seek the service.

In this regard, on December 3rd, Immigration doubled the speed of sending passports to regional offices based in cities.

Owners will not be required to present their ID card when collecting their electronic passport, non-electric passport or emergency passport.

Meanwhile, parents of children under the age of 18 just need a picture of their ID card when coming to collect the passport.
