Police, in a message to the media, said the fight between two gangs was reported to the authorities at 3:30pm on Sunday evening, adding it left a 20-year-old Maldivian man injured by a sharp object.

An official from the hospital said although the youth is being treated at ICU, he is in stable condition.

As per the official, he had sustained stab wounds to his stomach and shoulder.

Nevertheless, the official said efforts were underway to transport him to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for further treatment.
