The inauguration of President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Vice President-elect Hussain Mohamed Latheef will cost MVR 22.9 million, according to the Parliament.

The inauguration will be held at the Republic Square in Male’ City on November 17.

Parliament’s Communications Director Hassan Ziyau said on Monday that the tender board contracted arrangements for the ceremony to Sifainge Welfare Company (SIWEC).

While the Parliament said the ceremony would cost MVR 22.9 million, it has yet to disclose a detailed account of the expenses.

Last week, Ziyau said the Parliament will be sending around 3,500 invitations for the inauguration.

This includes foreign dignitaries.

He added that the leaders of three countries have informed they will be attending the inauguration.

However, their attendance will be confirmed once security arrangements are finalized, he said.

Ziyau said that the current arrangements do not permit members of the general public to attend the inauguration.

But Sun has been informed that this decision may change, once the MNDF finalizes security details.

The arrangements for the inauguration are being made by the Parliament under the advisement of the Director General of Transition Abdul Raheem Abdulla.

The transitional committee states that Muizzu wishes for members of the general public to be able to attend his inauguration.
