Addu Meedhoo MP Rozaina Adam has requested the President’s Office and some local councils to probe rumors circulating regarding her via social media post and an online article.

Rozina, in a post on social media platform X, publicized the letter she had sent the authorities to probe the rumors.

As per the letter, rumors on social media allege Rozaina possesses a land plot worth MVR 2 million in Addu City, and of decision by the ‘Compensation Committee’ in The President’s Office of deciding to award Rozina two islands, a lagoon, and MVR 30 million.

The rumors also allege Rozaina of possessing a land plot worth MVR 1 million in L. Gan, of possessing a land plot worth MVR 4 million in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll and of being awarded an uninhabited island valued at MVR 200 million from Noonu Atoll.

Responding to the rumors, Rozaina said she is unaware of any reason why the President’s Office must compensate her, or of any intention to award such a compensation.

Therewith, Roziana requested to clarify whether such a decision has been made by the President’s Office.

In a letter to Addu City Council, underscoring she was not aware of possessing a land plot valued at MVR 2 million in the city, requested to clarify whether there was such a land plot registered to her name.

Speaking to Sun regarding the rumors, Rozaina said such rumors result in the public being misled to believe false information.

“Fake online news outlets are writing such misinformation without registration. The public thinks it is the truth when Hassan Kurusee and others make such accounts and spread such information,” she said.

Rozaina emphasized the importance of clarifying the validity of information before publication, adding no effort was made to combat misinformation.

She appealed to clarify the reality of the rumors presently being circulated against her.
