National Democratic Institute in collaboration with Women in Tech, has announced a 24-hour hackathon under the name, ‘Debunkathon’.
The hackathon will be held on October 27th and October 28th, at Hulhumale’ Waters’ Edge.
Women in Tech said the purpose of the hackathon was to raise awareness on media literacy, and find solutions to combat the spread of false information.
Registration is presently open for interested individuals to participate in the hackathon in teams of three or five through this link. Registration will close on Monday.
Five teams from the teams registering for the hackathon will be selected to participate. The winning team will receive USD 8,000 to complete their prototype.
A two-hour information session regarding the hackathon is scheduled for Saturday, as per Women in Tech.
Interested individuals can register for the session through an online form.
Debunkathon will feature interactive sessions, information sessions and a networking event. Teams competing in the hackathon will have the opportunity to seek advice and assistance from experts in the sector.
