Teams from The Democrats have been dispatched to 36 islands to launch the party’s ‘Faseyha Viyafaari’ policy – which translates to mean ‘easy trade’.

The party is set to travel to additional islands within the next three days, and will have visited 52 islands by the time it’s done.

According to Democrats, the teams are composed of the party’s MPs, council members, and general members.

The main event is scheduled to be held at B. Thulhaadhoo on Tuesday night, and will be led by former president Mohamed Nasheed, said the party.

At the event, Democrats will launch its first economic policy – ‘Faseyha Viyafaari’.

The Democrats is composed of a breakaway faction of the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), including the party’s former leader Nasheed.

The party has announced plans to hold a primary to select the party’s candidate for the presidential election in September.

Though anyone has yet to announce candidacy, many believe the party’s ticket will go to Nasheed.
