Police, on Thursday, revealed the arrest of a Maldivian man from Addu City’s Hulhumeedhoo district for threatening to kill a person.
Police said the 40-year-old was first arrested on Tuesday on suspicions of attempting to disturb the peace of the district. He was released 24 hours later.
However, he was rearrested on Wednesday under a court order for threatening to kill someone.
Police said they are probing both cases.
Threatening to kill someone is a criminal offense under the law. If proven at court, the suspect faces a prison sentence between six months and eighteen months.
