Tree Top Hospital reports there were some 300 patients already pre-registered when the hospital launched the first IVF clinic in Maldives earlier this week.

The hospital opened its fertility clinic last Monday, in a ceremony attended by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Tree Top told Sun on Wednesday that around 300 people had registered for IVF treatment during the ‘Open Day’ it held ahead of the clinic’s opening.

The hospital said it began the service with huge demand.

The hospital’s fertility clinic is headed by Dr. Zakiya Ahmed, a specialist in reproductive medicine and infertility.

The hospital said that consultations at the clinic are currently limited to 20 patients per day.

The hospital expects to boost consultations to 50 patients per day once more doctors join the clinic.

The fertility clinic is located on the third floor of the hospital.

According to Tree Top’s managing director Ahmed Nazeer, the hospital invested around USD 1 million to open the clinic.

In addition to IVF, the clinic also provides IUI and ICSI treatment.
