President Solih: Will solve difficulties faced in procurement of quality medications

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Monday, said his administration was undertaking efforts to solve difficulties faced in the procurement of quality medications.

He made the remark during the inauguration of Tree Top Hospital’s (TTH) Fertility Centre on Monday morning.

Speaking at the ceremony, TTH’s Managing Director Ahmed Nazeer emphasized there were multiple obstacles to providing quality healthcare services despite the hospital’s successes in introducing new and quality healthcare services in the Maldives.

On this note, he detailed difficulties in procuring new and quality medications.

“Although the quality of the services is good, medication still needs to be procured from neighboring countries. India, Lanka, or Pakistan. This needs to be addressed to pave the way for the procurement of quality medications,” he said.

Nazeer said this had been the most pertinent concern of health sector stakeholders since the beginning. He appealed to President Solih for a solution.

President Solih, while delivering his remarks at the ceremony, promised to look into the difficulties faced in procuring quality medications. He also assured that his administration will identify and undertake all possible efforts to address the issue.

He pledged the government’s unwavering support to bring positive changes to the Maldivian health sector in addition to resolving existing issues within the system.

Obstructions to procuring quality medication is a persistent issue faced by healthcare stakeholders and professionals. Many have previously raised concerns over difficulties in accessing new medication despite the introduction of new healthcare services.
