Nashath nominated for a new term in EC

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has nominated Ali Nashath for an additional term as a member of the Elections Commission (EC).

The President’s Office had opened applications for membership at EC on May 10, as the term of Nashath is set to expire soon.

The names of the candidates who applied for the post was sent to the Parliament on Monday. Nashath’s name was on the top of the list – showing the president’s preference to have been reappointed.

The nomination has been sent to the Parliament’s Independent Institutions Committee for review.

Nashath has been serving as a member of the EC since 2018.
