Chief judges appointed to Civil Court and Criminal Court

Newly appointed Civil Court Chief Judge Ahmed Nimal Junaid (R) and Criminal Court Chief Judge Adam Mohamed (L).

Chief judges have been appointed to the Civil Court and the Criminal Court by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) on Tuesday.

Ahmed Nimal Junaid, Fehige, GA. Meemendhoo was appointed chief judge at Civil Court while Adam Mohamed, Maathila, Lh. Hinnavaru was appointed chief judge at Criminal Court.

Applicants who applied for both posts were interviewed by Advisory Committee to JSC in the Appointment of Judges.

The chief judge post at Civil Court became vacant following the resignation of former Chief Judge Abdulla Ali. Judge Ahmed Nimal Junaid was appointed acting-chief judge for the meantime.

The chief judge post at Criminal Court became vacant following the transfer of former Chief Judge Ahmed Shakeel to High Court.
