North Maafannu MP Imthiyaz Fahumy (Inthi) has filed a complaint with the police over remarks made by senior government officials hindering the security of Parliament Speaker, former President Mohamed Nasheed.
A letter Inthi sent to the police on Thursday stressed previous attempts on Nasheed’s life while also expressing concern over the lack of investigative findings in connection to the IED attack on Nasheed two years ago.
“I suspect a conspiracy with respect to repeated remarks in forums by individuals holding influential posts surrounding the theme of aversion towards the provision of security to Nasheed and encouragement of ceasing Nasheed’s security,” the letter read.
He particularly named South Henvieru MP Hussain Shaheem (Andhun Hussain) and Meedhoo MP Rozaina Adam in his letter.
Inthi, noting both individuals were inciting hatred towards Nasheed, attributed their actions to a planned conspiracy. He further accused both parliamentarians of trying to pave way for another attempt on Nasheed’s life by weakening his security.
“There is reason to believe their actions are part of an aforethought conspiracy to pave way for another attempt on Nasheed’s life or an act of terrorism,” he said.
Therewith, Inthi requested the police to investigate the case.
Inthi’s letter comes after Andhun Hussain’s remarks regarding Nasheed’s security at Wednesday’s parliamentary sitting sparked criticism.
