Nasheed meets Qasim’s advisor Ilham

Maldivian Democratic Party’s (MDP) leader, Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed meets Ilham Ahmed, an advisor to Jumhoory Party’s (JP) leader and Maamigili MP Qasim Ibrahim.

Maldivian Democratic Party’s (MDP) leader, Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed has met with Ilham Ahmed, an advisor to Jumhoory Party’s (JP) leader and Maamigili MP Qasim Ibrahim.

Nasheed was accompanied by MDP members, who are his supporters, during this meeting. They included MDP’s Deputy Leader Mohamed Shifaz, West Henveiru MP Hassan Latheef and Hulhudhoo MP Ilyas Labeeb.

Details regarding the meeting, which was held at the People’s Majlis building, have not been disclosed by either party.

Two representatives of Nasheed have also recently met with Qasim at Sun Island resort.

The representatives were former parliamentary representatives of GDh. Atoll Mohamed Rashad Hussain and former parliamentary representative of Madaveli constituency Mohamed Nazim. Although no details regarding the meeting have been disclosed to date - Sun has learned that the meeting was on political discussions.

Nasheed has been lobbying for Qasim to contest in this year’s election – describing it as a ‘golden opportunity’ for JP’s leader. Qasim, during JP’s fourth congress held over the past weekend, had immensely praised Nasheed while indirectly criticizing the current administration which JP is privy to.
