Highway accident: Injured motorcyclist on ventilator support

Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has revealed that the injured motorcyclist in the dangerous car and motorcycle accident on Hulhumale’ Highway on Thursday is on ventilator support.

The accident took place Thursday afternoon.

Both vehicles had been headed from Hulhumale’ to Male’ when they collided.

The motorcyclist who sustained serious injuries in the accident has been identified as a local man working for Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).

He was first treated in IGMH’s Emergency Room.

Updating Sun on Friday on his present condition, IGMH’s Spokesperson said he was still in a critical state – detailing he was presently on ventilator support at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The motorcycle was destroyed beyond use in the accident while the bonnet of the car was significantly damaged.

Hulhumale’ Highway is a common scene of road accidents, of which some have resulted in fatalities.
