President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is scheduled to travel to GDh. Faresmaathoda to attend the official function for Fishermen’s Day, states the President’s Office.

In a press conference Thursday, PO spokesperson Miuvaan Mohamed said President Solih will travel to Faresmaathoda on Sunday.

“There are a lot of celebrations planned in collaboration with the Fisheries Ministry, in addition to the official function,” he said.

President Solih’s upcoming visit to Faresmaathoda comes at the heels of recent protests from fishermen, who have complained of huge delays in payment for their catch and failure to pay them a fair price for their catch as promised when the administration came to power.

President Solih was invited to Qatar to spectate a match by the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
