Judge Fathimath Farheeza has been appointed to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC)’s Council of Appeal Judges as representative of High Court.

The Council of Appeal Judges is mandated with hearing complaints regarding judges, and appeals over JSC’s decisions, except for decisions regarding recommendations to the Parliament for dismissal of judges.

Members are appointed to the council on an annual basis.

The Council of Appeal Judges is composed of the Chief Justice, a justice from the Supreme Court except for the one serving at the JSC, a judge from the High Court except for the one serving at the JSC, and a judge from a superior court except for the one serving at the JSC.

High Court said Wednesday that Judge Farheeza had been appointed to the Council of Appeal Judges, replacing Judge Shuaib Hussain.

The council was established with the second amendment to Judicial Service Act.
