Acting Pakistan High Commissioner Zulqurnain Ahmed on Wednesday said that Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal was an inspiration for young Muslims at all times and places.
He expressed these sentiments in a statement released on to mark the occasion of the 145th birth anniversary of great philosopher, leader, poet and humanist Dr Iqbal.
Born on November 9, 1877, Pakistan annually marks this day celebrsting Dr Iqbal, who was known as Poet of East.
In the message by HC Zulqurnain expressed gratitude towards Dr Iqbal for his idea of separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent where they could lead their lives in accordance with their religious, social and cultural values.
He went on to say that the renown poet taught to strengthen belief in our abilities and potential to achieve self-reliance in every facet of life with self-confidence, hard work and innovations. Moreover, he said that Dr Iqbal encouraged to continue the quest to find new solutions and bringing innovation and creativity in life without compromising self-respect, dignity and honor, religious, social and cultural values.
Furthermore, the HC highlighted that Iqbal had a great affection for the youth, and said that he had urged them to aspire for greatness, and continue their quest for bigger and unseen possibilities like a soaring eagle that knows no bounds.
The HC also addressed Iqbal’s concept of Khudi (Selfhood), and said that it will continue to enlighten the way toward attaining inspiration in their quest to develop their country and attain the rightful place in the comity of nations.
Allama Iqbal said, “Develop the Self so that before every decree, God will ascertain from you- What is your wish”.
In the statement Zulqurnain noted that it was a pleasure for Pakistan's Maldivian brothers and sisters, to know Iqbal’s contributions, and be inspired from his message.
He expressed that on this day we re-pledge to re-align our lives in accordance with the teachings of Dr. Allama Iqbal of strengthening brotherhood, upholding the cherished values of liberty, justice and equality and striving to gain modern knowledge of science and arts, and embracing innovation and creation without compromising our religious, social and cultural values and preferences.
Dr Iqbal was said to have awakened the Muslims of the Subcontinent through his universal poetry and political acumen by presenting idea of the creation of Pakistan through his historic address at Allahabad during 1930.
This address gave a clear direction and separate identity to Muslims of the Sub-Continent to achieve Pakistan under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
