The ARO premium water brand launched by Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) will boost the Maldivian tourism industry, states Tourism Minister Aishath Nahula.

MWSC launched ARO in a ceremony at The Marina @ CROSSROADS on Monday evening. Nahula attended the event as chief guest.

Speaking at the event, Nahula noted that ARO is an eco-friendly brand, and encouraged more businesses to release eco-friendly products to the local tourism market.

“It is the government’s goal to increase locally made products in the tourism market. And environmental protection must be the top priority when it comes to sustainable development of this industry,” she said.

Nahula said that it is important to reduce the use of single-use plastics, and release eco-friendly and innovative products into the market.

“It is an important responsibility that rests on the shoulders of each citizen to protect the environment and sustain the different industries as locally-made products are introduced to the market,” she said.

Nahula said that though MWSC was established as a state utility company, it has expanded over the last 27 years, gaining a foothold in engineering, manufacturing and training sectors.

ARO is Maldives’ first premium bottled water brand. It comes in 500ml and 1,000ml glass bottles.
