Applications open for courses at US air force, coast guard, military and naval academies

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) is offering scholarships for Maldivian students from the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Coast Guard Academy, the United States Military Academy, and the United States Naval Academy.

The eligibility criteria:

  • Completion of A-levels or certificate equivalent or higher to A-levels
  • Single
  • Below the age of 23 years (as of July 1, 2023)
  • Completion of Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Testing (ACT)
  • Completion of Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
  • Physically and mentally fit

MNDF states candidates can sit for the tests – SAT, ACT and TOEFL – after they submit their applications.

Six spots are available for Bachelor’s Degree courses from each academy.

The course at the US Air Force Academy will cover aeronautical engineering, astrological engineering, computer science, military strategic studies, mechanical engineering, cyber science, biology, legal studies, mathematics, management, operations research, philosophy, system engineering, and meteorology.

The course at the US Coast Guard Academy will cover civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, naval architecture, management, operations research, marine and environmental science, professional maritime studies, and strategic intelligence studies.

The course at the US Military Academy will cover chemistry, engineering, computer science, defense strategic studies, information technology, science, international relations, legal studies, mathematics, management, operations research, philosophy, psychology, and sociology.

Meanwhile, the course at the US Naval Academy will cover aerospace engineering, chemistry, computer science, cyber operations, information technology, economics, electrical engineering, science, oceanography, mathematics, naval architecture, operations research, physics, and political science.

Interested candidates have been asked to send the course application, along with CV and attested copies of academic certificates to the MNDF headquarters – Bandaarakoshi, or email to [email protected] before November 15.

Course application forms are available on MNDF’s website.
