Applications open for ‘Miyaheli 2022’ social innovation camp, targeted towards CSOs

Ooredoo Maldives and UNDP Maldives has opened applications for ‘Miyaheli 2022’ an annual social innovation camp – this time targeted towards Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

Held annually since 2016, Miyaheli camp is aimed at bringing together the ideas of youths, in achieving innovative solutions to social issues.

Ooredoo states that this year’s Miyaheli camp will focus on the theme ‘Innovation for People, Planet and Prosperity’, which is aimed towards CSOs unlike previous years. Applications to participate in the camp can be submitted through an online form.

Ooredoo’s CEO, Managing Director Khalid al-Hamadi said that Miyaheli camp is held in order to find sustainable solutions to social issues.

“This year’s Miyaheli camp is a huge opportunity in making the ideas of Civil Society Organizations based across different regions in the Maldives a reality, paving way to ensure a bright future for our world, and aiding the society. There is hope that innovative and significant solutions will be put forward by this year’s participants in ensuring a successful camp,” he had said.

Similar to previous years, Ooredoo detailed that participants of this year’s camp will be provided with additional knowledge and guidance from mentors and facilitators to elevate their ideas.

A total 13 CSOs can take part in the camp – from which 3 winners will receive the winning grant to pilot their innovative solutions.

These three winners will be provided seed funding of MVR 300,000 and mentorship in accordance with their proposed budget and requirements so that the ideas can continue to prosper and make a difference.

Ooredoo emphasized that two of the winners will be selected from CSOs based outside of Male’ region, where majority of CSOs operates.
