Political science students from the Maldives National University (MNU) have organized the first model South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit to be held in Maldives.

The model summit was held on Tuesday evening as part of the practical learning experience of the senior batch of MNU’s political science students.

The students represented all SAARC member states, along with some other states invited as special guests, and presented statements.

They engaged in discussions regarding the areas for economic and social improvement in SAARC member states.

MNU’s Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Shameem said such practical learning experiences offer students valuable lessons.

“Holding more such events will help students open their eyes. They will learn what they need to do once they graduate,” he said.
