Parliamentary approval sought to appoint Shaheeb as ambassador to two additional countries

The motion seeking parliamentary approval to appoint the Ambassador of the Maldives to India, Ibrahim Shaheeb, H. Jeheyvai, Male’ City, as the ambassador to two additional countries have been sent for review to the Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee.

Submitted by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the motion was read out at Monday’s parliamentary sitting by Secretary General Aminath Niusha.

He is seeking parliamentary approval for the appointment of the current Ambassador to India, Shaheeb, as the ambassador to also Nepal and Azerbaijan.

The President’s letter requested that he be informed of the parliament’s decision regarding the matter.

Shaheeb was presented his letter of appointment as the Maldivian Ambassador to India by President Solih on October 10.

Shaheeb completed his Masters in Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore. He has previously held the post of Chief of Protocol, and Additional Secretary, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
