The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) and Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday signed an agreement to provide assistance to each other and work together.

The agreement signing ceremony was held at PGO, where Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem and President of ACC Adam Shamil signed.

According to PGO, under the agreement, both institutions agreed to work together on set areas, in order to carry out their respective legally assigned responsibilities.

This includes working to eliminate corruption and providing technical assistance to each other.

PGO further stated that legal and procedural information would be exchanged, and under set terms, information on corruption cases that are sent to court by them would be shared with ACC.

Moreover, PGO reiterated that even now, both PGO and ACC work together in corruption cases. Hence, their prosecution system already provides relevant support and information to ACC in corruption-related investigations.

The agreement signed today aims to further strengthen and support this dynamic.
