Baa Atoll stabbing victim to be brought to Male’ City for further treatment

Baa Atoll Hospital, on Sunday, has revealed that efforts were underway to transfer the migrant who was stabbed during a violent altercation on an uninhabited island at Baa Atoll, Ungoodhoo, to Male’ City for further treatment.

The violent altercation unfolded between two migrants on last Thursday night – during which one them was stabbed multiple times with a knife.

The migrant who was stabbed was identified as a 45-year-old Bangladeshi.

Director of Baa Atoll Hospital Ahmed Waheed told Sun that doctors have advised transfer the patient to Male’ City for further treatment. 

“There are more matters that needs to be probed. Have been referred to transfer the patient to Male’ for further treatment following surgery and treatment. His condition is still serious,” he had said.

Underscoring that efforts to transfer the patient to Male’ City was underway – Waheed stressed that they have been unsuccessful in their efforts so far due to various reason.

The patient has sustained various head injuries, whilst there are two fractures on his hand.

Although the cause of the altercation remains unclear – Police is investigating the case further. On the night of the altercation – Police had arrested a 43-year-old Bangladeshi in connection to the stabbing.
