President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said Friday that simple acts of kindness such as exchanging gifts and wishing each other well can help end animosity and foster togetherness in the community.

He made the remark in a written address on occasion of Eid al-Adha.

In his address, President Solih highlighted some of the fundamental lessons derived from the rituals of hajj, including treating everyone fairly, promoting sociability and working together as a team for the same ambitions – qualities he said were needed to solve communal issues the society faced today.

He urged the Maldivian people to forgive one another, make peace with one another, and cultivate and sustain familial bonds within the community as the country celebrates Eid.

He emphasized the benefits of helping one another and said that simple acts of kindness such as exchanging gifts and wishing each other well would help end animosity and foster togetherness in the community.

He also urged the public to put the good of the nation ahead of their own interests.

President Solih extended sincere greetings and warm felicitations on the occasion to all Maldivian citizens, all the Muslims in Mecca for the holy pilgrimage, and members of the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
