Flu clinic established at IGMH over increased cases of viral fever, flu

Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), on Friday, has announced provision of a flu clinic’s service at the hospital over increased cases of viral fever and flu.

In a statement released tonight, IGMH said that they have observed an increase in the number of patients seeking medical care for viral fever and flu recently.

“Recently, there has been an increase amongst patients seeking care from this hospital for viral fever and flu. Therewith, we have established a flu clinic to provide the services of a doctor to such patients,” the statement read.

As per the hospital, the flu clinic will be open from 8:00am in the morning till 11:00pm at night.

Latest statistics published by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) show the number of cases pertaining to dengue, viral fever and flu, diarrhea and vomiting had increased this year compared to the same period of last year.

In this regard, a total of 13,361 patients sought care for viral fever and flue in May 2022. Meanwhile, 185 people sought care for dengue and 1,894 people sought care for diarrhea and vomiting.

With the increase of general diseases – HPA has advised the public to take precautionary measures.

Maldives is presently experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases as well.
