Dhiraagu launches ‘The Oceans – Our Home’ campaign under its ‘Care for the Ocean’ theme

In conjunction with World Oceans Day 2022 – Dhiraagu had launched ‘The Oceans – Our Home’ campaign under the company’s ‘Care for the Ocean’ theme.

The campaign was launched with a video featuring Dhiraagu’s brand ambassador Zoona Naseem.

As per the telecom company, the main objective of the initiative is to create awareness among young people regarding how vital it is that they are actively involved in driving change in light of the fact that the world we all inherit is shaped by actions and decision of today.

Dhiraagu said that a series of awareness activities will be conducted across the Maldives as part of the campaign.

Dhiraagu states that the company places great importance in raising awareness and advocating for the projection and perseveration of the natural environment and ensuring environmental sustainability in their corporate practices.

In this regard, they detailed the introduction of ‘Care for the Oceans’ in October 2016 – a company-wide and public focused program aimed at reducing and raising awareness against single-use plastics.

“The company introduced reusable bags, water dispensers and stopped using single use plastic bottles at the workplace since 2016,” they detailed.  

Apart from this, Dhiraagu said that they have been supporting schools in their plastic free initiatives and have been engaging in awareness and coastal clean-up programs.

Dhiraagu also underscored that during the COVID-19 pandemic – they raised awareness on the surge of plastic pollution and encouraged the public to responsibly discard items like single-use gloves and masks

The telecom company said that they appointed Zoona as their brand ambassador last year in an effort to accelerate their efforts to call for action.
