Four suspects wanted in Eid-day violence remain at large

Police state that four suspects wanted in connection to the gang violence which took place at the intersection of Majeedhee Magu and Janavaree Magu in Male’ City on the morning of May 2, as Maldives marked Eid al-Fitr, remained at large.

They are:

  • Mausoom Mohamed Didi, 27, K. Male’ Dhafthar no. 2260
  • Ahmed Rabeeu, 24, Gulnooranmaage, GA. Maamendhoo
  • Munad Jaufar, 20, Naadhee, S. Hulhudhoo
  • Ahmed Sathiu, 21, Coral, S. Maradhoo

Police have asked for those with information regarding their whereabouts to call the police hotline 3322111 or the Serious and Organized Crime Department at 9911099.

Police had originally sought the public’s assistance to locate seven suspects in connection to the case. The other three suspects were:

  • Ahmed Shimhaz, 22, Seenuge, Th. Thimarafushi
  • Looth Ahmed Asif, 18, M. Lonumidhilige, K. Male’
  • Ahmed Nazih, 27, Kenereege, GA. Gemanafushi

The three suspects, along with two additional suspects, have since been arrested.

The other two suspects arrested are a 15-year-old and Ahmed Nazih, 27, Kenereege, GA. Gemanafushi.

The four adult suspects have been remanded in jail pending the outcome of their trial, while the remand of the minor had been extended four times, the last time for seven days.
