Maldives Meteorological Service has issued yellow alert for a large part of northern central Maldives, warning of heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas.

The yellow alert is effective from 10:00 am to 03:00 pm on Saturday, for the area from HA. Atoll to M. Atoll.

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts the area will be affected by heavy rain and strong winds of 25-30 miles per hour, with gusts of 50 miles per hour.

Seas are expected to be rough, with waves expected to reach heights of 5-8 feet.

“Wave surges are likely during high tides. All, especially seafarers are advised to be cautious,” said the service.
