Police investigating case of tuition teacher sexually harassing student

Maldives Police Service has commenced an investigation into a case of a tuition teacher allegedly sexually harassing a student.

According to Police, on Saturday, March 9, they received reports of sexual harassment of a student by a tuition teacher that took place in a Hulhumale’ house.

The authority further noted that the incident involves a female under 18-years.

So far, though the investigation is ongoing, no arrests have been made in connection to the case.

In February alone, 106 cases of sexual harassment of children were reported to the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services.

The Ministry stated that in that month, the highest number of cases they received involved some form of abuse against children.
