Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) has established an online platform to enable Prosecutor General’s Office to submit criminal cases to magistrate courts across Maldives.

DJA states that the platform offers a safe and convenient system through which to submit documents.

The system, which connects PGO with 187 magistrate courts across Maldives, was launched on Monday.

Chief Judicial Administrator Aishath Rizna said the new system will increase the speed of court cases, and provide a solution to administrative issues.

“This is an important step in the digitalization project initiated by the judiciary. Once the integrated court management system is fully complete, courts will become easily assessable to obtain justice,” she said.

The system, which is already in use at the Criminal Court, offers a solution to several administrative issues when it comes to filing charges in time and submitting necessary paperwork.

DJA said the system will be in place until the integrated court management system is established. Once the system is established, electronic filing will be introduced, automating all filings.
