Aman Shareef, the young soldier who was hospitalized after he fell ill during training in Lh. Maafilaafushi last weekend, has been moved out of the ICU at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The 19-year-old soldier’s family told Sun that he was moved from the ICU to the ward on Monday night.

The family said Aman was doing well, and that such an incident could have happened to someone undergoing such hard training.

The other solider who was transported to IGMH along with Aman, a 21-year-old, has also been moved to the ward and is doing well.

The hospitalizations had come mere days after a 19-year-old soldier collapsed while undergoing training in Maafilafushi, and died, shortly after he was taken to a hospital in neighboring Lh. Naifaru.

The incidents prompted MNDF to establish a committee to investigate the cases.
