Subsequent to high traffic with the changes brought to the jetty of departure and arrival of ferries and launches in Male’ City, it has been reverted back to earlier arrangements of the jetty in front of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
Male’ City Council’s Media Official Mariyam Shiuna told Sun that the change was brought following an assessment by the Council upon receiving complaints of increased traffic in the area.
“After the changes were brought recently, Council also noticed when a team went to check after receiving calls from the public about increased traffic,” she had said.
At the start of this month, Male’ City Council changed the jetty of departure and arrival for ferries and launches in Male’ City to the jetty in front Nasandhura. The Council cited that this was as MMA area is close by to the local market and fish market which triggers increased traffic in the area.
Despite the change, most launches had used the jetty in front of Bank of Ceylon for arrival and departure. The increased traffic near Bank of Ceylon area had exacerbated the issue, worrying many citizens.
