Journalist Hawwa appointed as Environment Ministry’s Communications Director

Hawwa Mohamed, who has been appointed as Environment Ministry's Communications Director.

Former Raajje TV journalist, Hawwa Mohamed (Hawwi), has been appointed to a political post.

Hawwa has been appointed as Environment Ministry’s Communications Director.

She was appointed to the post by the powers vested in the President under Article 115 (f) of the Maldivian Constitution.

The salary of a Communications Director is MVR 15,000. In addition to this, a living allowance of MVR 10,000 and a phone allowance of MVR 500 is also given.

Hawwa debuted as a journalist on VTV. Following this, she had also worked at Radio Atolls.

The most notable point in her career was when she had worked at Raajje TV. This is also where she worked the longest; being seven years. After working at Raajje TV for seven years – she had switched to Channel News Maldives (CNM).

Hawwa who has extensive experience in the field of media has won the international award ‘Women in Media’ which is bestowed by Women Icon.

Whilst Hawwa has been appointed to the post – journalists who worked at Raajje TV previously, Rizna Zareer and Thahaarath Mohamed have also been appointed as Communications Director at two ministries. Journalists from Raajje TV have been appointed to other political posts as well.
