COVID-19: 2,199 new cases; 10,537 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Thursday, announced 2,199 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 110,931.     

According to HPA, the 2,199 new cases include; 1,348 cases from the greater Male’ region, 531 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 83 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile,1,232 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 100,112.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 10,537 active cases.      

There are 43 patients in hospitals.      

6,598 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 3,910 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 34 percent. 

With the 2,199 new infections on Thursday, 10,480 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.  

January 20: 2,199 cases 

January 19: 2,137 cases 

January 18: 1,594 cases 

January 17: 1,420 cases 

January 16: 1,209 cases 

January 15: 954 cases 

January 14: 967 cases 

Maldives has recorded 269 COVID-19 deaths.
