Pediatrician Dr. Ahmed Faisal, on Sunday, reported that a child, below the age of five, is being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) after contracting COVID-19.
Dr. Faisal told Sun that the child was admitted at the hospital sometime last night and is in stable condition. He urged the public to take safety precautions advised previously in order to curb the spread of the disease.
In a post on X, Faisal said the child contracted the disease from a person who had traveled abroad.
Health professionals advise immunization, social distancing, wearing masks and frequently washing or sanitizing hands as safety precautions against COVID-19.
While six million people across the world have died from COVID-19 – a total of 186,694 cases have been reported by the Maldives with 216 fatalities.
