COVID patient dies in Kudahuvadhoo, increasing death toll to 252

Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced on Saturday that a COVID-19 patient admitted at the Dh. Atoll Hospital in Kudahuvadhoo has passed away. 

HPA identified the deceased as a 93-year-old Maldivian male. 

He passed away at 07:10 am. 

“This is the 252nd COVID-19 death in the Maldives,” confirmed HPA in a tweet.   

It also marks the second COVID-19 death in December. 

Maldives has 91,993 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 100 new cases recorded on Friday. 90,003 patients have since recovered.     

The country currently has 1,726 active cases. 17 of the patients are hospitalized.
