Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) has kicked off the first hybrid book fair in the Maldives, taking place both physically and virtually.

The book fair titled ‘Iqra Hybrid Book Fair’ commended this morning, and will continue until December 10 at IUM’s hall in addition to islands at which learning centers of the University are established. The islands are; L. Fonadhoo, S. Meedhoo, HDh. Hanimaadhoo and Fuvahmulah City.

Books can be purchased online as part of the book fair, in addition to in-person from IUM and its learning centers.

IUM said that individuals who wish to order books online, can do so via Iqra book fair’s official website.

They detailed that the main objective of the fair is to disseminate information by providing books, journals and audiovisual materials and to make these easily available under one online platform for a fair prize for different vendors such as Writers, Publishers, Institutions, Companies, Bookshops, etc. to sell their products.

Another objective they also highlighted is to provide opportunities for book fair visitors of all age categories to take part in different education activities via audio and video sessions thereby promote and sustain a reading culture.

It is also aims to be a platform for individuals and parties interested in donating books, magazines and other items free of charge for the public.
