Bank of Maldives (BML) states it is working hard to resolve intermittent outages in its internet banking services.

BML completed a major upgrade to its core banking system on November 21.

The bank, in a statement regarding the continued service interruptions on Monday morning, said that upgrading the core banking system was often a complex and comprehensive process which could impact service availability for banks across the globe.

BML said that while it had expected to face minimal system interruptions - which were communicated in advance to customers – the bank has unfortunately continued to face intermittent outages since the upgrade.

The bank said it was working hard to resolve the issue.

“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and thank our customers for their continued patience during this time,” said the bank in its statement.

BML said it regularly undertakes system upgrades in order to enhance operational resiliency and maintain the necessary security and technology standards of its systems.
