India’s Constitution Day marked in Maldives

Indian Cultural Centre, High Commission of India in Maldives, marks the Constitution Day of India in a ceremony at the Social Center in Male' City on November 25, 2021.

The Indian Cultural Centre, High Commission of India in Maldives, has marked the Constitution Day of India in Maldives. 

Constitution Day is celebrated in India to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. The Constituent Assembly of India adopted to the Constitution of India on November 26, 1949, and it came into effect on January 26, 1950. 

India’s Constitution Day was celebrated in Maldives in an event held at the Social Center auditorium in Male’ City on Thursday. 

The event was attended by Indian High Commissioner Munu Mahawar, Deputy Indian High Commissioner Rohit Ratish, Indian Cultural Center’s Director Dr. Sayed Tanweer, and Dhivehi Bahuge Acadamy’s President Dr. Ashraf Abdul Raheem. 

Speaking at the event, Dr. Ashraf highlighted upon the salient features of constitutions and how they become lighthouses in steering the collective sentiments and shaping the ideologies of nations. He explained with the example of the constitutions of Maldives and India.  

A documentary on the making of the Constitution of India was screened at the event. 

The event concluded with a joint presentation of the national anthems of Maldives and India by a group of artists from the two countries.
