Police investigate sexual abuse of 5-year-old girl

Police have opened an investigation into the sexual abuse of a young girl in central Maldives. 

A police spokesperson said on Saturday that a case involving sexual abuse of a five-year-old girl in North Central Police Division (K. Atoll, AA. Atoll, ADh. Atoll, and V. Atoll) was reported to the police at 00:50 hours on Thursday, November 18. 

The case is under investigation by the police, said the spokesperson. 

Police have yet to disclose whether they have made an arrest in connection to the case. 

The case comes after a four-year-old girl was sexually abused in a preschool in Male’ City in October. The suspect arrested in the case, a 63-year-old woman who worked at the school, was later released from custody.
