Maldives Meteorological Service said that the tropical depression over southwest Bay of Bengal is expected to move west northwestwards and cross the Indian coast by Thursday evening.

This will contribute to strong winds and rough seas over the next three days, said the service.

Average winds are expected to be 17-27 miles per hour in central atolls, and 15-25 miles per hour over the rest of the country.
