COVID-19: 128 new cases; 1,700 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Thursday, announced 128 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 87,487.      

According to HPA, the 128 new cases include; 35 cases from the greater Male’ region, 66 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 27 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 78 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 85,531.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,700 active cases.      

There are 29 patients in hospitals.      

3,731 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,259 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 3 percent. 

With the 128 new infections this Thursday, 932 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.   

October 28: 128 cases 

October 27: 173 cases 

October 26: 110 cases 

October 25: 149 cases 

October 24: 92 cases 

October 23: 225 cases 

October 22: 55 cases 

Maldives has recorded 243 COVID-19 deaths.
