British Airways resumes direct flights to Maldives

British Airways has resumed direct flights to Maldives after a four-month hiatus.

British Airways suspended direct flights to Maldives after the island destination was placed on UK’s travel red list following a surge in COVID-19 cases in May.

UK removed Maldives from its red list on September 22.

British Airways resumed direct flight between Male' City and London last Saturday.

The airline operates flights from UK to Maldives on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. And flights from Maldives to UK on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The lowest rate for a two-way ticket to Maldives is USD 639 (MVR 9,869) from the economy class.

The latest statistics released by Tourism Ministry shows Maldives recorded 858,711 tourist arrivals by September 27. UK ranks the 8th top source market for tourist arrivals to Maldives – with 2.1 percent of the market share. It had ranked the 5th top source market before the pandemic.
