A 46-year-old COVID-19 patient admitted at HMF passes away

A COVID-19 patient admitted at the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility (HMF) has passed away.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has confirmed the identity of the latest COVID-19 fatality as a 46-year-old Maldivian woman. She passed away in the early hours of Friday, at around 03:02 am.

Her death increases the number of COVID-19 fatalities in the Maldives to 230.

The most recent COVID-19 death recorded in the Maldives prior to this was the death of a patient transferred to HMF in serious condition, for further treatment from HDh. Nolhivaram, on last Friday.

Maldives has recorded 82 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the country to 84,103.

According to HPA, the 82 new cases include; 29 cases from the Male’ region, 53 cases from residential islands outside of Male’ region, and four cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 107 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 82,208.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,653 active cases.
