MTCC awarded land reclamation project of 6 islands

Signing ceremony between MTCC and Planning Ministry for land reclamation projects in six islands.

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been awarded contracts for land reclamation in six different islands worth MVR 752 million. 

In a ceremony held today, MTCC was awarded contracts for land reclamation in R. Dhuvaafaru, H.A. Ihavandhoo, A.A. Ukulhas, Th. Hirilandhoo, M. Dhiggaru, and G.A. Dhaandhoo.

CEO of MTCC Adam Azim signed the contracts on behalf of MTCC while Director General of Planning Ministry Fathimath Shaana Farooq signed the projects on behalf of the Ministry.

Coastal protection projects of Ihavandhoo, Ukulhas, and Hirilandhoo are also to be carried out as part of the project.

Details of the projects are as follows:

  • R. Dhuvaafaru: A land area of 22 hectares are to be reclaimed. The MVR 143.1 million project is to be completed with 445 days. 
  • H.A. Ihavandhoo: A land area of 25 hectares are to be reclaimed. The MVR 124 million project is to be completed with one year. 
  • A.A. Ukulhas: A land area of 10 hectares are to be reclaimed. The MVR 71.3 million project is to be completed with 235 days. 
  • Th. Hirilandhoo: A land area of 20 hectares are to be reclaimed. The MVR 105.2 million project is to be completed with 285 days. 
  • M. Dhiggaru: A land area of 25 hectares are to be reclaimed. The MVR 121.8 million project is to be completed with 450 days. 
  • G.A. Dhaandhoo: A land area of 25 hectares are to be reclaimed. The MVR 186.6 million project is to be completed with 350 days.
