Minister of Housing and National Planning has announced a national census in 2022.
Speaking during the ceremony on the World Statistics Day, Minister Aslam said that preparations were now underway for the planned census.
The Minister said that the cooperation of the entire nation was needed for the census to be accurate.
The first national census in the Maldives was carried out in 1911. Before a break in 2931, a census had been conducted every 10 years.
The last census in 2014 showed a population of 402,071 in the Maldives.
