Applications open for financial aid under Zakat Fund to complete higher education

Islamic Ministry has opened application for special financial aid under Zakat Fund for higher education students facing financial constraints to complete their courses, interruptions to their courses, or are unable to graduate.

Islamic Ministry has released guidelines for scholarships and special aid under the Zakat Fund.

In an announcement on Wednesday, the Islamic Ministry said that application for special aid under the guidelines will be open until 02:00 pm on Sunday, November 15.

Applicants must be enrolled in a course permitted under Islamic Sharia, and must belong to social group that lacks financial wealth and are eligible for Zakat.

They also must be enrolled in a course accredited by Maldives Qualification Authority and falls between Level 5 and Level 10 of the National Certification Framework, must be facing financial constraints to complete their education due to circumstances beyond their control.

Students who have received scholarships under Zakat Fund are not eligible for special financial aid.
