Former Maldivian First Lady Nasreena hospitalized

Nasreena Ibrahim, the spouse of former Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, has been hospitalized.

Sun has been informed the former First Lady was admitted to the Tree Top Hospital located in suburban Hulhumale’ on Tuesday, following a health complication she developed during her time at a resort with her family during the Eid al-Adha holiday.

Her health complication is not related to the coronavirus outbreak, but she was tested for the disease in accordance with the standard protocol for all hospitalized patients.

In a tweet on Wednesday night, Maumoon stated that Nasreena tested negative for the new coronavirus.

He said that Nasreena is recovering, and thanked their friends and well-wishers who inquired about her health.

“Our family thanks all our friends and well-wishers who have been inquiring about the health of Nasreena. We thank Allah that she is recovering well and is also negative for Covid,” he said.
